The Importance of the 2nd Amendment
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Words that are more prevalent today than any other time in our history. Some say that when our founding fathers wrote The Constitution and creating The Bill of Rights, they intended for the 2nd Amendment to be number two on the list for a reason. History has proven that this right, has allowed us to maintain the freedoms we have. A right that is always such a point of contention among not only fellow citizens, but also has become a driving force for political campaigns. The current Democratic, Far Left politicians want to take your guns away. They want YOU to solely rely on them for safety, protection, & food. They don’t want you to have the option to protect your family without having to lean on them. That doesn’t fit into their master plan and it shouldn’t fit into ours either.
Take a look at other countries around the world who have banned guns and removed them from their citizens. Venezuela banned the sale of guns in 2012. Fast forward to today and Venezuela is a Socialist, Tyrannical country. The government is violating and removing liberties such as free speech, devaluing its national currency, seizing privately owned properties, and creating economic destruction that has destroyed the country. They claim to have banned guns to limit their crime rate but wake up! Any logical person can see that this was their plan to take control of their country and force their citizens to rely on them to survive.
Australia put in place a strict gun control program between 1996-2007 that started with banning semi-automatic guns and evolved into banning certain calibers, barrel lengths, & magazine capacities. They claimed this was to lower their homicide and crime rate. Let’s roll into current events when recently a pregnant Australian woman was arrested in front of her husband and children for posting on social media about a potential anti-lockdown event. Not even something that physically took place. It was a social media post. I bet if they hadn’t given up their guns, they’d still have an opportunity to speak freely and schedule “peaceful protests”.
Nazi Germany banned guns and look at the results. Most feel that this allowed for the Holocaust to take place. If guns were not banned, people could have fought back, saving millions of lives.
How many times in history do we need to see the effects of people forfeiting their rights and then seeing how their worlds can be turned upside down. There is a reason that this has not happened in the United States and that is because pro 2A Americans stick to their guns (pun intended) and will not give up this right.
Certain states are pushing their limits to see what they can get away with. States like California, New York, & Illinois, all of which have the strictest gun laws in the country. Stop reading this and go turn on the news. I guarantee you can see a report on shootings or homicides taking place in any of these cities. This can’t be, it seems so odd right? These states have the most stringent gun laws, they shouldn’t have gun crimes like this right? Guess what…. Criminals don’t care about your gun laws. Criminals are not going to surrender their guns and abide by the strict laws put in place. They see this as an opportunity to commit more crimes against innocent civilians because they are not armed and are prepared to defend themselves. It's all about power and having the 2nd Amendment and right to bear arms allows for not only an even playing field but also helps to keep bad people in check.
Most recently as of January 2020, Virginia state was attempting to infringe on the 2nd Amendment by passing a gun law legislation. Thankfully, thousands of pro 2A supporters showed up to the Richmond, Virginia capital with firearms on hand to protest this potential legislation which was an attack on our 2nd Amendment rights. We won that day but the state has still tried to pass other laws that still do restrict certain 2A liberties and rights, such as limits on handgun purchases per month. This will be an ongoing battle but it is comforting to see the silent majority come out in support of what is likely our most important right.
There are plenty of examples throughout history and occurrences in other countries and yet we find ourselves on the cusp of a fight for our own rights and our own lives. In the midst of a pandemic people all across the United States are recognizing this and acting on it. Gun and ammo sales in 2020 are soaring higher than ever. People are recognizing that there is no coincidence between restrictions on what stores you can visit and restrictions on gun & ammo stores not being labeled “essential” and remaining open for business. This is the government attempting to slide your rights right out from under you. They think they can take these rights away from us and we won’t put up a fight. That will not and cannot happen.
Another attempt to restrict our rights is the claim that the 2nd Amendment wasn’t intended for modern AR-15’s, that it was intended for the muskets that fit the time period of when The Constitution was written. IF that was true then let's pose the question....If the 1st Amendment applies to radio, TV, and the internet...and the 4th Amendment covers electronic wiretapping and video surveillance, how can the 2nd Amendment only apply to 18th century firearms?
We are now, more than ever, in a fight for our rights and in a fight for our freedoms. We cannot waiver to a tyrannical government who is trying to disarm the American people for their own political gain. The 2nd Amendment was written not for us to protect ourselves from other countries, that is the military's job. The part of the 2nd Amendment which includes “being necessary to the security of a free State” was intended for us to defend and protect ourselves from our OWN government. Keep up the fight and don’t surrender any of your rights, especially your right to bear arms.
